The Big Race Revisited

I just got finished looking at the pictures of the YMCA harbor View 5K this past Saturday. There are many pictures of Mary, many pictures of Evil who wasn't even running, Evil Jr got the most pictures. Dede and Heidi got a picture all by themselves. And if you want to see a picture of your pal, well grab a magnifying glass and have at it. There some great shots of the top of my head you can pick out in the pictures of the start.

One thing I noticed was that at the start of the race, I stood still for about 10 frames before I even moved, while the front runners were all off and running. It must be the reason that I finished 28 minutes and 23 seconds after the first runner crossed the finish line. Next year I hope that the two broken legs that I had at race time will have healed so I can make a better showing.

Pictures of the race are here.

Uncle Willie,

Congratulations on showing up and having a crack. It doesn't matter what time you ran, so long as you had a go and enjoyed it.

Next time you run a 5K you will be faster, so long as you keep doing the brick sessions with Amy.

Now, kindly stop posting about the race. You are making me jealous and wishing I had won lotto, flown over, and had a crack too.

I will take your word on the number of photos of various people, personally I haven't got a clue who is who.

Snoot.

OK here you go Snoot.
Evil Jr. 5755-56-5828-29
Mary 5774-75-76-77-5888-89
Dede 5778
Heidi 5928
Evil 5919-20-21
Your pal 5765 (back row on the left, to the right of the man with the black hat)

I have to say that the pictures, except for Evil, are not the best shots of everyone. You can't look your best if you are in pain and gasping for breath. There are no pictures of me crossing the finish line because everyone had gone home by that time.

Thanks Uncle Willie!

Since it was a fun run/walk I am confident that coming in 28 minutes after the winner you would have finished 15-20 minutes ahead of the people walking.

So please stop putting yourself down.

I also reckon if you did regular brick sessions with Amy, you would be amazed how much faster you will run the next 5K race.

Hey Willie,
Been out straight at work and just getting back to your blog. Thanks a lot for posting the pictures....it was bad enough they were on Village Soup for all to see. Anyway if we really want to work on times for a race we can train over the winter. Results were fine considering we just jumped into it with no prep. And now that Amy has cancelled her Tuesday nite class maybe that will be an excuse to all get together and do the course once a week? Talk to you on Friday. M
