Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a survivor of both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings at the end of World War II, has died at age 93. If I lived near Mr Yamaguchi, I would have steered clear of him. He may have been the unluckiest person in the world.
To explore his bad luck in the past, here are some of Mr Yamaguchi vacations picks. In 1964 he took his family for a vacation to Alaska for the worst earth quake in their history. In 1980 he was vacationing near the base of Mt.St. Helen. In 1993 was vacationing in Maine for the storm of the century, were snow and ice caused a vast majority of people to lose their electrify for, in some cased, for 3 to 4 weeks. And of course one of his last vacations in 2005 to New Orleans just as hurricane Katrina hit.
In an interview with the one of the only friend that Mr Yamaguchi had, said that it was a really tough being his friend and that he did not hold him responsible for poking his eye out with a pencil in high school or accidentally chopping off his big toe while on a camping trip. "You really had to be on your toes to be a friend of Lucky," This was the nickname his friend gave him to try to break Mr Yamaguchis string of bad luck.
In a last stroke of bad luck, 3 pallbearers at Mr. Yamaguchis funeral where injured when his coffin mysteriously exploded. Rest in peace Lucky.
Here is a clip from the movie" The Great Outdoors" were John Candy and Dan Aykroyd talk to a man that has been struck by lighting many times.
