Saturday night was my wife's birthday and we were going to spend it with two of our friends. We first met at a bar/restaurant that had just opened. Well let me tell you, it was not a very nice spot to start the evening. The place was decorated sort of like the bathrooms in Penn station in New York City, only worst. I kept looking around for the urinals.
We met up with our friends, finished a beer each and raced out of the joint. We headed over to a really nice bistro to down a martini or two. When we arrived we belled up to the bar and ordered our drinks. As we were settling in to our seats we got engaged in conversation with a couple, who were at a near by table, having dinner. They were very nice and really easy to talk to, with a very good sense of humor. It seems they were from Manhattan and with our group all of us being from the New York area, we all hit it off well. We all talked while they ate, and we consumed our martinis. It seems that one of these ladies, Trina Hamlin, was a entertainer and she was playing a gig at the Strand theater just up the block. We talked for a little while longer and had to leave to get to the restaurant we had reservations. We bid our new friends a fair adieu and off we went.
We had a great meal and a couple more drink with dinner, so your pal was slowly getting hammered. But that's another story. Just as we were having an after dinner drink, in walked our new friends and gave us a copy of her new CD "One Night Stand". It was really nice surprise and as they left we all said that we will keep in touch. Such nice people, these show people.
After we left the restaurant we ambled over to another watering hole for a nightcap, that your pal did not need , but what the heck. As we walked to the bar my friends wife and I broke out in song, and the the song was "Begin the Beguine". And both of us could only remember one phrase and that was "When they begin the beguine" and that was it, we sang that about 25 times in a row till my wife and my friends husband told us to stow it.
At the bar I ordered another beer and did not finish it because I was entering the realm of shit faceness and could drink no more because if I did I would be entering the next realm called pukeness. Any how it was a good night, and everyone had a real good time. And yes I did sing "When the begin the beguine", all the way home.
Here is one of Trina Hamlin clips.

Sounds like you had a good night, Willie. Be sure to drink plenty of water when you wake up in the morning, but I'm pretty sure I don't need to remind you of that.
I have had years of practice in my younger years and know the routin, thanks.
Oh man--she sounds great!
