Workout 4........ A Near Death Experience

Fridays workout was the last one on the your pal's cycle class extravaganza. This, I thought was a good workout with lots of upbeat music with some fast spinning in and out of the seat. Things were going on very well for about 45 minutes with your pal in control, amusing everyone with my special patter that everyone just love, I think.

When I workout I always wear a heart rate monitor so I can judge what kind of workout I am getting. I have found when I am running the class my heart rate is always a little more elevated then when I am just taking the class. But I was really surprised on Friday when I looked down and my heart rate monitor read, 190. Now a high heart rate for me is usually, when I am working really hard, is no higher than 165. So 190 took me back a little bit. But your pal, as I always seem to do, sucked it up and finish the class. I am such a trooper. But after class I started to fill a little weird, a little light headed. I left the Y, without saying anything to anybody, which was not the right thing to do, and drove home.

When I got home, I told my wife about what happened and the next thing I knew I was in the emergency room lying on a table with all of these monitors stuck to my chest. One amusing thing happen in the emergency room. The women who came in to hook me up to the heart monitor asked when I was born, and after I told her, she said without missing a beat, that she was younger than me. Bitch.

The doctor told me it could be a couple of things, and they were all about my heart beat speeding up or some crap like that. Well any who, it does not seem to be too serious, so he sent me home with a portable heart monitor, that I have to wear till Sunday. He even said that I should take Saturdays class, so I am. So if this is the last post, it's been a good run. So goodbye or tune in Sunday for your Sunday Funnies.

Here is one of the tunes that I pushed my heart rate up to 190.

I will only post this comment once so take note

DON'T YOU EVER DO THIS AGAIN ... YOU TALK ABOUT THE OLYMPICS HAVING NOTHING BUT CHILD COMPETITORS AND YOU THINK THAT AN OLD GUY LIKE YOU SHOULD COMPETE IN SPIN CLASS AS IF YOU ARE MUCH, MUCH YOUNGER.

FACE FACTS OLD MAN AND GET BACK ON THE COUCH WHERE YOU BELONG ...

You're scaring the rest of us in the pre-boomer generation ... honestly though, be well and don't get your heart into a tizzy again!!!!!!

Thanks for the concern but I would rather die living life to the fullest then waste away on a couch. I won't give up untill they close the lid.

You and I are on somewhat parallel planes these days Willie. Feel better and don't let a bunch of statistics get to you.

Willie is one exceptionally fit and dedicated athlete. So what if he is a Senior? He lives a very fit life with a youthful spirit and plenty of humor. He certainly doesn't belong sitting on a couch wasting his life away. I'm sure this episode only occurred because he volunteered to teach 4 classes this week while the rest of us lame instructors were vegetating on vacation. I'm feeling a little guilty now...

Willie, I am sorry you had a scare yesterday. At first when I read your post, I though you were exaggerating. Apparently not. Next time we have a break week- take a vacation like the rest of us. The spin class can live without a few workouts every few months. They/we will all survive. I want you to as well. You are a hero whether you teach or not. Hang in there buddy...
