FLASH: Big breaking story. Legendary professional food scarfer Takeru Kobayashi is not expected to take part in the Coney Island event much to the chagrin of competitive eating fans everywhere. Yea competitive eaters are pissed. "We want to go up against the best" said Filow Belch, who is best known for eating 5 Thanksgiving dinners in 10 minutes before his stomach exploded. "We in the eating community want Kobayashi to be there, he is is the face of competitive eating". This from Tim "8 fingers" Fartalot who's claim to fame was eating over 4 hundred cocktail wienies before the competition had to be stopped because Fartalot, in his quest to break the record, ate two of his own fingers.

The 5'8", 128-192 lb Kobayashi took the food world by storm in 2001 after winning his first July 4Th contest. He went on to win a record six consecutive championships, and in doing so became the face of competitive eating the world over.
