This morning my wife got a call from Windward Gardens, it's a nursing facility that my mother-in-law is a resident. The nurse on duty told my wife that her mother was not responding and that her blood pressure was very low. The nurse informed her that they called the doctor and he was going to call my wife with information about what we wanted to do about her mother.
When doctor called he told my wife that it did not look good and that she should prepare herself for the worst. After my wife hung up the phone and told me about what was happening we both had tears in our eyes and were very upset. We both got into the car and made our in way to the nursing facility.
When we entered my mother-in-law's room we found her in bed and just staring straight ahead with no life in her eyes. It looked like she had had a stroke and was just not responding to our voices. It was really sad to see her this way.
We stayed for a while and decided that we should make some arrangements for when she did pass. We made a appointment with a funeral home in the area. We were to meet with the people at the funeral home at 130 Thursday afternoon.
We arrived at the funeral home and where seated in the interview room and started to fill out the information that they needed. And that's when my wife got the call. It was the nurse at Windwood Gardens and she was telling my wife that her mother had made this miraculous recovery. She had got out of bed and was asking the nurse to get her some food, that she was hungry. She got out of bed and was eating at the table right now and doing just find.
We couldn't believe it, one moment we were planning her funeral and the next we were heading to the nursing facility to have lunch with her.
When we arrived at Windwood Gardens we went straight to the lunch room. And there she was sitting with a aid and looking like nothing had happened. All of the people who work with my mother-in-laws were coming up to my wife and I and saying that it was a miracle and that they had never seen anything like it.
For my wife and I, it was quite a day with many ups and downs. We don't know what will happen next, but for now we can put that feeling of lost away.
