The Storm
This pass Sunday my wife and I gathered up all of our flashlights, candles, bottles of water and prepared for the storm called Irene. Our friend Kate, who lives very close to the water, was going to be staying with us for safety reasons. We secured all of our deck furniture and hoped for the best.
And our preparation help us through this terrible storm. First the rains came and what rains they were We personally had a half inch puddles in our driveway. My truck was rained on for over a hour. And the wind it was madding with gust of over 15 mph. There were leaves blowing all over the place. There was even two leaves stuck to my truck after it let up.
The ducks in our pond weathered the storm quite well. I personally watched as water roll right off their backs.
Here on the mid coast of Maine we are very grateful that this storm passed us by. And being prepared for what could have happened is a good thing. I'm reading on line that the media was blowing the storm way out of proportion and that they were scaring everyone. I personally think that it was a good thing and these storms should not be taken lightly. The weather, sometimes, is not a predictable. So you must be prepared for the worst. What if they had said that the storm was coming and maybe it will come through your state, but there is a good chance that it will miss it, so relax and go about your business, no need to worry. There would be people in a uproar saying" You should have been more emphatic about the approaching storm." There are alway going to be knuckleheads. So let's be prepared and safe and not ignore and be dead.

Yeah, we got hit pretty good in Brooklyn; but not nearly as bad as our vivid imaginations led us to believe. Which I guess is a good thing!
I'm glad you survived. George Bush doesn't care about northeastern bloggers!
