A Friend Will Be Missed
One of our dear friends are leaving Maine and moving back to New Jersey. I grew up with the husband, both living on the same street as kids. His wife, who we have become very close, have been friends for 40 years or so. They are moving away for a number of reasons and I know that they will be OK in their new life back in Jersey. For one thing they will be close to their children and grandchildren which will make the transition a little easier.
For her husband the move isn't too much of a hardship as he had become disillusioned with a Maine lifestyle. But for his wife it will be a hard break. In a conversation, at one our Friday night get togethers, she as a child use to dream of living in a home, like the one she is leaving and in a place like Maine. So she was living her dream and I think it is going to be a very sad day when she has to leave Maine.
We are going to miss them both, but it will be a very sad day to see Kate leave us and her dream. For my wife and I, Friday dinners will never be the same.

Bummer man. But let me ask you something (and I'm not trying to be a smartass when I do), what's the "Maine lifestyle?" You mean a less urban--less NJ/NYC lifestyle? More laid-back? That line caught my attention cause on bad days out here in NY I often envision escaping to Maine or Wisconsin or some such place. But maybe you meant something else? Just curious.
More laid back, there is not a rush for anything.
Less crowed
No dress codes(You can't tell if a person has no money or a millionaire)
A lot of lobster eating and drinking beer.
In the winter, dinning out late is 7PM
There are cultural things about, but not around ever corner like in the met area.
Short summers
Winter you had better like skiing, snow shoeing, ice skating (OUT DOOR SPORTS) if not like to read.
Hockey is big
Tons of Red Sox and Patriot fans
Lot's of interest in high school sports.
Lot's of open space, nice people.
People help the disadvantage, there is a lot of poverty.
Worst governor in the US.
Where I live is beautiful place.
When walking pass someone and you make eye contact, they will always say hello
Sounds good!
