Spring ...........Hello.........Are you there.

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens

Well Charlie if you lived were I live, Maine, you would change that March to May. Yesterday was the first day of spring and it snowed, rained, snowed again then rained with 40 mph wind gust. The Crocuses and the Daffodils are starting to bloom, but in my case they are still under 4 feet of snow. I saw my first Robin yesterday it had on a down coat and a beak warmer. The trees are just starting to bud, not. And you can feel the warm spring sun on you bare arms if it were not 33 degrees. I think I want this winter to end, do ya think. It seems to have snowed every other day this season. I wore my snow shovel down too a nub. I had to use a latter to throw the snow on top of my 10 foot pile in my driveway. I love the beauty that snow brings too our landscape around our area, but I have had too much beauty this year. I need the beauty of flowers, green grass and trees filled with leaves. So mother nature please give us a break and get over that "It's not nice to fool mother nature" Chiffon margarine thing.

Frankly I think I'd prefer snow than the horrible heat we get here.

Perhaps I should qualify that by saying I've only seen snow once in my life and that was when we went to Perisher when I was about 6 or so.

All I remember is Dad breaking his collarbone and getting boots full of snow.

Happy Days.

A quote from your blog says: "I love the beauty that snow brings too our landscape around our area, but I have had too much beauty this year. I need the beauty of flowers, green grass and trees filled with leaves."

Well, Bilford, you ought to move back to New Jersey ... the daffodils are already blooming in my yard and the Bradford Pear trees are ready to leaf out.

Needless to say, we miss you and remember those early years when you move to Maine when you would say, "We don't have to have a contract for snow removal ... we haven't had any snow at all. Why pay the guy when it doesn't snow?"

The only way I will move back to New Jersey is in a pine box.

I almost blew away yesterday, and that's no easy feat.

Hey Willie,
Quit your whining. You should know if you live in Maine there are only 2 seasons....Winter and the
4th of July. March is always a miserable, muddy cold, wet month. My favorite...not. Don't worry our time will come soon when we can dawn the shortsleeve shirts and shorts for a week or so. Whoever came up with Maine...the way life should be...needs to be shot....or stuffed in a snow bank. See you bright and early tomorrow AM...M
