Eating

For my wife and i Thanksgiving is finally over. That's right it's December and we have finally finished off the last of the Thanksgiving dinner. Friday night I had the last of the Turkey soup. A couple of days before we threw out what was left of a couple of pies.

If I had followed my mothers creed from my youth, we should have sent therm to China. We would always have to finish everything on our plate, my brother and I, at every meal.....hello eating disorder. That was really a big problem because my mother, may she rest in peace, was not a very good cook in our younger years. My brother and I were chowing down on dishes like gravy yard stew, tuna casserole with soggy potato chips on top.......yum my stomach is churning as I write this. And I don't want to leave out the liver, cooked so there was no moisture left in the shoe leather like meat product.

My brother had the worst of it all as he was a very fussy eater. He would, all through the meal just push his food from one side of the plate to the other. My father from time to time would make him sit at the table till he finished everything on his plate. My brother spent a lot of time sitting at the dinner table.

I found out later on in life, that he would shove the food he did not like in his mouth and store it like a chipmunk. He would asked to be excused from the table, head to the bathroom, where he would deposit the ill tasting morsels.

My brother had a tough time at the dinner table, and I wasn't any help. I would eat anything and everything or as a friend use to say "Would eat the balls off of a skunk." And that was just a saying and no I would not eat the balls off of a skunk..........unless they were sauteed in a butter sauce, shallots in a wine reduction. Buon appetito.
